What if FUN is as necessary to the life of a child as Food, Shelter and Safety?

Well, it is. We just don’t think about it that way. Yet. Kids deserve to just be kids. In 1989, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child confirmed that engaging in cultural, artistic and recreational activities is a basic children’s right. Kids Up Front proudly focus on offering kids access to artistic, cultural and recreational experiences so that kids can just –

laugh when they’re tossing and catching popcorn with their dad during half-time;

“Wow!” when they see their sports hero LIVE at the arena, or;

enjoy the little things like skipping over sidewalk lines on the way to the waterpark.

Meet Violette

Violette is a young girl, who suffers from severe mental illness. In the last 3 years, she spent most of her time in hospital psych wards – day in, day out.  It wasn’t until her transfer to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (a Kids Up Front partner) that her life started to change. Watch to find out how Kids Up Front played a part in her healing journey and where Violette is today.

All kids should have access to fun, enriching experiences.

These experiences create a sense of belonging, and allow kids – to just be kids.

Belonging is the secret sauce to building safe, vibrant communities. So when kids thrive, we all do.

By giving as little as $20, you provide access and help transform our shared community.

Your $20 provides 1 kid and a chaperone with access to a fun, enriching experience.

It could be a hockey game, sneak-peak tours at the orchestra, a day at the museum… But it’s more than that.

It’s the “Wow!” moment when they realize they’re 1 of a 10,000-person crowd at their first concert. It’s the laughter when they’re tossing and catching popcorn with their dad during half-time.

Donate $20 and be the change you wish to see in our shared community.

You should warn people in advance about how great the seats are. The boys’ and girls’ jaws dropped and it took them one full period before they could recover from the shock of their good fortune. They absolutely adored the experience. One kid, in particular, born of a rather dysfunctional and impoverished family, and who considers the Leafs to be his RELIGION, was almost in tears of joy. Thank you and to the donors for providing such profound experience for the youth (and for me too!).

Steven, Executive Director, Boundless

When I contacted a family and offered them the opportunity to go to a Hitmen game, they were most pleased. They shared that they can never give their family this opportunity because they cannot afford to send all 8 of their children to events. When I told the children, they jumped for joy saying they have never been to a game before. They were so excited to return to the school and tell me all about their day at the Hitmen game. This excitement is exactly why we love this partnership.

Calgary School, Social Support Worker

He had never been to a hockey game. We simply could not spend the money to buy tickets for ourselves. Thanks to Kids Up Front, he was able to attend a game with his community support aide person and had an absolutely wonderful time. He has been talking about hockey ever since and has even started to take ice skating lessons which he loves.

About Giving Tuesday

GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.

GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges.

Your $20 provides 1 kid and a parent with access to a fun, enriching experience.
