Our Programs What Kids Need Get Involved!
Kids Up Front offers two programs:
1. Can't Use Your Ticket? is our trademark program and it's about recycling unused tickets.
When Kids Up Front first opened its doors, the concept was simply about getting kids into seats that would otherwise go unused. Branded now as "Can't Use Your Ticket?" the program is as simple and as effective as it was during the initial research process.
In Vancouver, Kids Up Front plans to work closely with all the sporting organanizations, theatre groups, promoters, and the public to obtain tickets that otherwise would have gone unused.
Having seats sit empty at any event, whether it's a hockey game, concert or live theatre production, doesn't make sense when there are so many who can benefit from the experience. Kids Up Front redistributes unused tickets fairly and efficiently through its partnerships with child-serving charitable agencies.
Five years into our programs, the positive impacts on our target audience is enormous. Kids are dreaming the "possible," experiencing interaction with their peers and having opportunities to bond with their families.
2. "Kids Count!" is an event-based program that provides kids with opportunities that have a life-long impact. Kids Up Front has sent hundreds of kids on special outings. These outings have profound effects on kids and their families.
Giving kids an opportunity to participate and achieve goals while learning how to work with one another builds trust, self-esteem and confidence-skills that are essential for a healthy, happy life.
We know our programs are making a difference. We've received thousands of thank you cards, pictures, letters and e-mails, both from agencies and kids who've experienced an opportunity courtesy of Kids Up Front and its partners. For some, it has been the thrill of attending their first-ever hockey game. For others it marks a turning point in their lives.
Special events are created and specially targeted to fit the needs of the clients we serve.

What Kids Need
There are key elements that kids need in order to thrive and grow into caring adults to carry on a healthy life cycle. Love, nutrition, shelter, clothing and nourishment of the spirit. That's where Kids Up Front comes along. Our programs provide opportunities for children to be mentored by caring adults (parents, mentors) who can teach them about the world around them by setting boundaries for healthy exploration in a safe environment. Children need to be encouraged to set high expectations, to know that they are important and their contribution is significant.
The Kids Up Front Foundation provides children with programs that allow safe exploration of the world around them and to open the door to their passions and let them dream the possible.
Kids are worth our investment because Kids Count!
There are many risk factors that bar a child from reaching their potential. Poverty, physical and mental challenges and disabilities, and immigrant and minortity status are some of the main factors. Our programs reach out to children in all those categories, supporting them from toddler to teen. We believe that for the highest positive impact to a child you must provide the highest positive impact to the whole family.
In British Columbia, we work with agency representatives from dozens of child-serving agencies to find short and long-term solutions.
Poverty is one of the key factors that prevent healthy childhood growth. More than 100,000 children live below the low-income cut-off (or poverty line) in British Columbia. This creates many challenges to families. Infant death is twice as high; death rates due to accidents, suicides and homicides are 10 percent greater; and childhood disabilities, emotional and academic problems are two times greater. When sometimes up to 100 percent of the household's income is spent on food, shelter and clothing, there is nothing left for a child to explore the world and develop socially. That's where Kids Up Front can help.
Immigrants and Minorities have their own set of barriers involving social acceptance and financial challenges. Approximately 85 percent of Aboriginal youth and approximately 70 percent of youth with English as their second language drop out of school, compared to the national average of about 30 percent. To add to that, children living in poverty drop out of school 2 1/2 times the rate of other children. That's where Kids Up Front can help
*Statistics above can be found in the Statistics Canada review on how to measure poverty.

How to Donate Your Event Tickets
Can't use your ticket? Donate them to Kids Up Front and we'll recycle them to kids efficiently, fairly and at no cost. It's so simple and so incredibly beneficial to the healing process of a family in crisis, or a child in need.

2. We attach a "ticket attachment" to every ticket outlining who donated the entertainment and where to send their thank-you letters and pictures.
3. A charitable tax receipt can be provided to donors upon request.
Please note:
- A Kids Up Front representative may attend certain events on a random basis for quality control and program evaluation purposes. Ticket scalping is not tolerated! Strong processes are in place to safe-guard each donation.
